I have a new “Wingman” in my life thanks to Stouffers #FitKitchen meals. #Sponsored

Before I had my first child I would run about 3-4 miles everyday.  This was easy because I lived with my parents and they had a treadmill in the basement.  When I moved out and got married, my exercise was limited to walking my dog around the neighborhood, but I did manage to squeeze in running every now and then.

When my daughter was born, I realized that I was not in the best shape and I decided to start running some more and working out to be in better shape for my kids.
Fast-forward to 2 kids and I am running 5k races, doing 10 mile runs and running obstacle course races where I am jumping, crawling and swimming through mud.  Now while that may seem like I am the picture of a healthy lifestyle, I am far from it when it comes to eating.  Let me tell you a tale or two of my bad choices when eating.
Running some of these races takes a lot out of you and even though you get the occasional banana and goodie bag of snacks afterwards, you still feel a little hungry, at least in my case.  After I ran my first 10 mile run, I stopped by the local burger joint and ate two double burgers with a large fry and drink.  Whatever weight or calories I burned off during my run, I just gained back within a few minutes.
I’ve done that a few times after an obstacle course run and while I feel full, I later regret eating what I ate.  I think what it comes down to is getting these foods are easy and convenient. I mean it’s not that hard to go through a drive-thru, order your food and drive home.  I know that if I want to feel fit and full, I have to find a healthier alternative and thanks to Stouffers and their new Stouffers FitKitchen meals, I think I found what I have been looking for.

Being from Chicago we like to have big meals and we like to grill. So I decided to put the Steak Fajita to the test.

Wow, this meal did not disappoint.  The steak was very tender and and the green peppers gave it just the right amount of kick.  After finishing the meal I felt satisfied and could not wait to try one of the other five different meals.  When you are a dad of two busy children, this meal is perfect because there is not much prep time to it.  Each meal has 25 or more grams of protein, which make it a satisfying meal for busy fathers.

This weekend I will be running an obstacle race with my wife. I know that my “wingman” will be waiting for me when I get home and have our after race meals ready.  Even though Stouffer’s #Fitkitchen meal is an inanimate object it is my wingman, because it will be by my side making sure I do not go hungry again.

(Disclosure: I have partnered with Life of Dad and STOUFFER’S® for this promotion.  I have received compensation and product for my participation, but my opinions are my own and no, you can not cook the Stouffer’s #FitKitchen meals on your grill).
