With Star Wars: The Force Awakens releasing in a few weeks, the big question has been: Where is Luke? Well, after sitting down and looking at the teasers and trailers a few times I have come up with a theory.
We all know that Luke is in the movie, because we have seen Mark Hamill’s name in the credits of the movie and at comic-con, so it’s no surprise to any of us that he will be in the latest Star Wars movie.
So why is he not in the commercials, trailers or the posters?
Here are my thoughts as to why.
At the end of Return of the Jedi after Luke sees the images of Yoda, Obi and Anakin, he returns to the group while they are celebrating the destruction of the second Death Star.
Now when the party is over everyone goes off on their respective ways and Luke is left alone with no one around and that’s where it hits him: he has nobody.
Luke goes back to the only place he knows, Tatooine and just sulks about his life. He’s sad that the only girl he ever felt feelings for turned out to be his sister. He has no one in his life and Obi Wan keeps popping up and telling him to continue in the ways of the Jedi.
That is why we do not see Luke in any of the ads; he is on Tatooine miserable that he has no love life and has to listen to a ghost telling him what to do.
That right there can drive anyone to the Dark Side.
