What’s in the box? |
If you have been a fan of this blog for a while or know me, you know that I am a huge fan of Star Wars. I have been a fan of the series since I saw the first movie (Episode IV) at five years old. While my love for the movies has not waned I can not express how excited I was to be able to share a new series of adventures with my children.
When Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in the theaters last December, my daughter and I were counting down the days. I could not wait to sit next to her in the theatre and go on this amazing journey with her. My love for this space opera grew tenfold as I watched the expressions on her face as the movie played before us. It literally brought a few tears to my eyes.
Flash forward to March 2016, when I received an email asking if I would like to host a viewing party to celebrate the digital and Blu-Ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. My answer, of course, was YES!
As most parents know, spontaneity is something that kind of takes a back seat sometimes. While there are plenty of times when you just want to get up and go somewhere with your children, by the time you finally get them ready to go anywhere, you had already spent an hour looking for one shoe or struggling with your youngest child to get them dressed. When all that is done, you are too tired to do anything, that you call it a day.
We decided to plan out the viewing party, invite some friends and order some food. The date was all set and as the time neared, our package was not here. Next thing we knew our son started throwing up and had a fever that was going up. We had to cancel. There was no way we were going to have people over and have my son get everyone sick.

The package arrived on Saturday and our weekends are pretty busy as is. Sunday I ran a race in the morning, so we had to figure out a time to have this viewing party. I worked on Monday, so Tuesday had to be the day to sit down and watch THE FORCE AWAKENS as a family. I mean, it was the actual release date and all, so it only made sense to watch it and dress up while watching it.
What I loved about watching it at home with my family was the cuddling. Sitting there with my children and listening to them cheer and sing along with the main theme; that is something that could possibly not happen in a theater and I’m glad it could happen at home.

We had such a great time together and I know we will be watching this movie a few hundred more times until the next episode comes out.
