Disclaimer: I have partnered with Life of Dad and Idahoan® Foods for this campaign, but my opinions, dirty dishes, and a full stomach are all my own.
I remember in the early 2000’s BC (Before Children), my wife and I would spend countless nights eating dinner at nice, not too fancy, restaurants and enjoying our meals at our own pace. We would talk about the state of the world and life in general. Who am I kidding, I was probably rambling on and on about some comic books I read and she was probably just being nice and listening to me. You know, good conversation.
All that changed once our first child was born. When she was a baby it was all candy and glitter as she slept in her car seat and we enjoyed our meal. If she started getting antsy, we would give her a bottle or her pacifier and all would be golden. As she got older, things started to change. Fussiness would become crying and crying would lead to tantrums. It would get to the point that we would have to rush sometimes and our nice long dinners turned into asking for to-go containers once our food arrived.
Fast forward to present time, where this Fandads’ home now consists of two children. Remember that old saying that once you have two children they can keep each other busy? Yeah, they can…keep each other busy to the point of making it harder for my wife and me to eat out at a restaurant. Double the kids equal double the tantrums.
Luckily, my children have learned how to behave when we go out to eat, but every now and then we have a small breakdown. So what are we to do when we want to enjoy a nice meal outside the house, but do not want to deal with an unpredictable toddler? I’m looking at you, son! We bring the restaurant to us. In this case, we bring the steakhouse to us with Idahoan® Premium Steakhouse Potato Soups.
Look at us! We look so happy to be eating a nice meal without interruptions by our children, but we know that the quiet moment would not last long.
They decided that we need some “nice” music to listen to while we ate our soups. At least we know this is one restaurant that we will not be rushing to leave. Look at them, they look so happy playing their music for us that I don’t have the heart to tell them that they are grounded.
