The End of an Era – Avengers: Endgame

Bear with me for a moment or two, but at least for us, this Era begins almost twenty years ago. It’s the year 2000 and surprise, surprise, the world did not succumb to the Y2K problem and Earth was still around. That summer we’d spend a lot of time at the movies watching the first X-Men movie. As a comic book aficionado, it was truly the first time I saw my childhood heroes on the big screen. In “real life” or as close as they had ever been. Wolverine, Cyclops, Professor X up on the big screen. Sure, there had been previous movies, Batman, TMNT, Spawn, and many more, but I think this was different.

It was like watching the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park for the first time, or the first time you picked up an N64 controller. Watershed moments if you will. There would definitely be more to come. The Dark Knight, Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Avengers, Civil War, Into the Spider-Verse and a few others. Movies you knew were special. Infinity War definitely fits into this category, and then there’s Endgame.

I’m not going to give anything away but see this movie. Endgame comes closer than any other movie in terms of putting what’s in the comic books on the big screen. I struggle between giving you details and keeping this spoiler free. I’ll just say this, the three hours fly by, you won’t be disappointed, and there will be closure.

It really is the End of an Era, and I’m not so sure that we will ever see another one like this one again.
Go see Avengers: Endgame, whatever it takes.
