Yo Gabba Gabba is Back in the new Yo Gabba GabbaLand!

In Animaniacs, there was a segment when Pinky and the Brain became hosts of a children’s show. Their fanbase grew so big and they were loved by many that the fans would do anything for them. Brain’s idea was to freeze themselves at the height of their fame and come back years later to use their fans to help them take over the world. Unfortunately, this plan backfires due to the trauma the kids went through by not seeing their favorite characters for a long time. I do not think the gang from Yo Gabba Gabba has to worry about that problem. The new show practically feels like no time has passed since the final episode aired on November 12, 2015.

Friends, the gang from Yo Gabba Gabba is back nine years later in the new AppleTV show Yo Gabba GabbaLand and it does not disappoint. The new host Kammy Kam is charming, adorable, and a great addition to the show. There are a few tweaks here and there but the show still honors the original show in so many ways. Each episode has a theme for the gang to explore and they take the viewers on these adventures together. All of the favorite segments you remember are in the show. Want to learn a new Dancey Dance? You got it! Want to have Mark Mothersbaugh teach you how to draw something? He’s here to do that! There are even random kids telling us their names and that they like to dance! Yes, you get to meet new kids showing us how to dance! Yo Gabba GabbaLand is following the “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mantra and sticking to the original formula.

I have been a fan of the show for over 14 years. I would watch the show before my daughter was born and tell my friends with kids about it. The show was so fresh and new that I loved watching it and would watch it with my daughter when she was born. My daughter’s first two birthdays were Yo Gabba Gabba-themed! She had many of the plushies of the characters and we went to the live shows a few times. By the time my son was born, we would catch reruns of the shows or watch the DVDs together. Yo Gabba Gabba has been a big part of my children’s lives and watching this show with them again was like going back to visit old friends.

Yo Gabba GabbaLand is a fantastic show and I know that a lot of families will enjoy this new iteration of the show. While some characters are missing, it is great to see how they are honored in the show. The great Biz Markie’s Beat of the Day continues by having different artists do a beat and have kids repeat it. It is very awesome to see Big Daddy Kane participate in this segment and it brought a tear to my eye to see him honor his late friend. I can only imagine what the atmosphere in the studio was on that day. One of the new segments that I enjoyed is the storytime segment. In this segment, there is a celebrity reading a story to a child and the child fills in the blanks as the story is read. It’s a cool take on Mad-Libs and a fun way for kids to hear these stories read.

These 10 episodes of Yo Gabba GabbaLand are fantastic and I hope that there will be a second season. Again, every episode is fun, full of great music, heartwarming, and just a blast to watch with your family. Thank you to Christian Jacobs, Scott Schultz, and AppleTV for bringing back one of the greatest shows ever made for kids…and adults too!
