Marvel Zombies is the latest series from Marvel Animation that gives us a look at an alternate reality of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this 4 episode series, we follow Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), and Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) as they attempt to survive the zombie apocalypse. The series picks up 15 years after the events from the first season of What if…?.
Each episode is about 30 minutes long each and packs a lot in each episode. The first episode shows us the group of 3 as they try to find items to survive when they see a quinjet crash a few yards away from them. On the jet they find a communication device that might be able to save the world. The three decide to take the item to a secret base but not without a little resistance from some zombiesthat are being controlled by the Red Queen (Elizabeth Olsen).

Throughout the series we see which heroes fell to the zombies and which heroes are still fighting for humanity. Characters like Shang Chi (Simu Liu), Katy Chen (Awkwafina), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Yelena (Florence Pugh) do their best to survive and join forces with Kamala, Kate, & Riri. During each episode certain teams of characters are highlighted and we see what they are willing to do to end the apocalypse.
One of the stand out characters in the series is Blade Knight (Todd Williams) who, with the power of Khonshu (F. Murray Abraham), assist Kamala on her mission to get the communication device in space. In the trailer, there is an awesome scene of Blade Knight fighting Ghost but there is another moment that, in my opnion, is freaking incredible. I will just say that it involves a shot of Blade Knight’s sword passing by his face.
The storyline is straight forward with the team attempting to prevent the Red Queen from finding the Hulk. I will not say any more than that because this is a key plot point that I do not want to spoil. The climactic battle rivals the final battel in Avengers: Endgame and I can only imagine how it would look in real life.

Marvel Animation has found a sweet spot in only releasing 4 episodes of a series. For some series it does work, but the amount of exposition or action can be either too much or not enough. Marvel Zombies, does a great job of giving Marvel fans the goods but maybe giving us one more episode would have given more time for some of the other characters.
Final Thought: Marvel Zombies is a fantastic series that leaves you wanting more. The 4 episodes are full of action, build to a climactic ending, and each has a gut-punching moment! Ms. Marvel and Blade are the heart of this series. There are some incredible images that are reminiscent of the Marvel Zombies comic series.
Violence: The series is rated MA for the bloody gore and violence. The animation takes full advantage of pushing the limit with the gore.
Kid-Friendly: Although this is an animated series, the amount of violence might not be suitable for younger kids. Parents, if you feel your kids are ok watching this, then they should be fine.
After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.
