I remember when I was younger waking up early before school and watching cartoons while eating my breakfast or getting dressed. I would watch Tom & Jerry, the Flintstones, and Woody Woodpecker. I remember how much I would laugh while watching Woody Woodpecker and sometimes get to school late because I was too caught up in watching his adventures on television. Somehow, in teaching my children about all things I grew up with, I have seemed to forgot about Woody Woodpecker. Well, that is going to change, somewhat, with the Woody Woodpecker movie.
I do not want to give away too much about the movie, but it is kind of Roger Rabbit-ish in the way that it is live action with an animated Woody. Some of the gags are pretty silly; one involving beans comes to mind, but overall it’s a decent introduction to those that have never seen a Woody Woodpecker cartoon before.
While it took my children a few viewings to watch the entire thing, it wasn’t until after we watched some of his cartoons that they were interested in watching the whole movie. I would suggest going that route to get your children familiar with what they are about to see. Whereas I would love to tell you more about the movie, I will let you read the official word and keep reading to learn about how you can win a copy for your family.
Woody Woodpecker (voiced by Eric Bauza) is back with his signature laugh, wacky antics and wisecracks in his first ever live-action/animated film. Woody must protect his forest home from Lance Walters (Timothy Omundson), who starts building his dream mansion in the forest with his son, Tommy (Graham Verchere), and fiancée, Vanessa (Thaila Ayala). To make matters worse, Woody must avoid the clutches of two grizzly poachers. With a series of crazy hijinks to sabotage their plans, Woody proves he’ll stop at nothing to defend his turf. Get ready for laughs in this hilarious comedy about everyone’s favorite woodpecker!
