After the earth-shattering ending of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans need a palette cleanser and this is where Ant-Man and The Wasp comes in. Continuing in the same vein as the first movie, Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnorok, Ant-Man 2 is a fun-filled adventure that will have you laughing, crying and laughing again. Here is our quick spoiler-free review.
During Infinity War we get a short blink-and-you-miss it line about what has happened to Hawkeye and Ant-Man. Black Widow mentions that they are both on house arrest due to their involvement in Germany. This is where we see Scott Lang at the beginning of the movie. He is under house arrest and is trying everything he can do to take care of his daughter and run a new business with Luis, Dave, and Kurt.
Here are some of our favorite moments of the movie.
1. Luis tells us another story.
One of the funniest moments of the first Ant-Man movie was when Luis tells a story that involves multiple people lip-syncing to his dialogue. Not only is watching them lip-syncing to Micheal Pena’s words funny, but they also mimic his mannerisms. If there is another Ant-Man movie, I hope we get two more of these stories in the movie.
2. The fantastic fight scenes.
It was not until that the third act that we really got to see Scott shine in the Ant-Man suit. Fighting Yellowjacket made for some interesting moments. Who can forget the fight on the Thomas the Train set and the little train hitting Yellowjacket? In Ant-Man and The Wasp, we see action from the beginning. There are a lot of fantastic fights in the movie and the way they shrink and enlarge the objects around them make these fights so entertaining.
3. The certain hitman reference
Yeah, I know I am being vague about this one, but it’s the first thing I thought about when they mentioned the boogieman. I’ll just keep this one at that.
4. Ghost
In the comics, Ghost is an industrial saboteur. He worked for some Marvel heavies like Justin Hammer and the Kingpin. He also had some dealing with the Roxxon corporation, which also makes an appearance in the new Cloak and Dagger television show, but that’s another story. In the movie, Ghost is played by Hannah John-Kamen. Not saying too much about her, but Ghost is in the same vein as Killmonger and Magneto. You want to dislike them, but the more you learn about them the harder it is to see them as a villain.
5. The Wasp
Hope Van Dyne is a badass! From her first fight scene to the final battle in the third act, Hope is another great addition in the strong female characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Wasp jumped to the top of my children’s list as their favorite character and now my daughter and son want to be Wasp for Halloween. I hope, no pun intended, that we get to see a lot more of the Wasp in the next Avengers movie. I can’t wait to see how she interacts with the other Marvel characters.

Final Thoughts: Ant-Man is a great movie to see after watching Avengers: Infinity War. It’s great to see another heist movie that gives you the right amount of humor and action. With the multitude of characters in the movie, they all get their time to shine and have some great moments that leave you wanting more. As always, this is a Marvel movie so STAY after the credits. Believe me, you do not want to miss this one.
Kid Friendly: The relationship between Scott and his daughter Cassie is great for families to see. I will warn parents that after seeing the elaborate fort and slide that Scott makes don’t be surprised if your children start collecting cardboard boxes. There is some language in the movie, but if your children have seen all of the other Marvel movies, they will be alright.
Violence: There are a lot more action scenes in this movie than the predecessor. While the fight scenes are intense, they are a little tamer than the ones in Avengers: Infinity War.
