The Fandads “Guardians of the Galaxy” Review. #Marvel Updated with toys!

By now you may have already read the reviews about Marvel’s latest movie Guardians of the Galaxy. You may have seen that the movie is getting a lot of good reviews and you may be asking yourself, “Are these reviews correct?”  Well, this Fandad has seen the movie and I will tell you something, they are!

If you have never heard of the Guardians before or are questioning seeing a talking raccoon on the screen, you will not be disappointed.  This movie has a lot of laughs, action and some tender-hearted moments in it.
Early this month I was able to see the 17 minute preview of the movie and I wanted more.  That was just from 17 minutes and even after seeing the entire movie I still want to see more.
My review is going to be short and to the point to prevent spoilers or surprises to you reading this right now.
The movie starts off with a kick to the emotions. I wasn’t expecting that.
There is a lot of funny moments, one-liners and references to the 80’s.  The characters are not saints, so expect a few more curse words than most Marvel movies, no F bombs though.
Keep your eyes open during the Collector’s scene.  There are some references to previous Marvel movies like Thor: The Dark World and The Avengers.
The soundtrack is amazing.  Being that Peter Quill is from the late 80’s, the songs that he listens to represents that era of music.  You might find yourself humming along to the songs and the placement of them throughout the movie is perfect.

This movie is being called the “Star Wars for this generation”.  Being a Star Wars fan, I think they are close, but nothing will ever be Star Wars, except for Star Wars.  Kind of like there will only be one Michael Jordan, so stop comparing all these players to him….sorry, I went off on a rant there.
I think we will see a lot of Guardian costumes this year for Halloween, just a guess.
If there is a comparison to Star Wars, I would say it would have to be the relationship between Rocket Raccoon and Groot, the tree-like creature.  They remind me of Han Solo and Chewbacca, being that one understands what the other one is saying when no one else does.
There are a few hints as to what might occur or be revealed in the sequel (yeah, a sequel was announced during the San Diego Comic Con this year), you just have to keep your eyes open to hear it.
This movie is a lot of fun for fans of the series or newcomers alike. I will definitely be seeing it again with my daughter and can’t wait to see what the bump at the end of the movie is. To prevent spoilers, which are probably already out there, the preview versions of the movie did not have the extra scene added to the end of the credits.  I think this is a cool marketing move, but spoilers always find their way online.
Finally, yes, I used pictures from the box Hasbro sent me for this post because I know that you would probably want to see something different than the pictures of the movie that are already online.
Thanks for reading.
