Last year the Fandads were invited to the Chicago Toy & Game Fair and here is our recap of the fun we had there.
Chicago Toy and Game week is one of our favorite times of the year and we have written about it numerous times. I mean, how many times can you go to an event and play with all of the toys that you see there? It’s like Christmas morning, except there is no clean up to do after you play with the toys. So what did the Fandads play with this year? What toys stood out to us? Keep reading to find out.
First thing on our agenda this year was the annual PlayChic Fashion Show. This year it was held at a bigger location inside the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier along with the Taggies, the toy award show. Having the two shows together on the same night made it interesting becasue the award show ran a bit late and the fashion show felt a little rushed. Other than that quirk, the fashion show was still a great experience to see.
If you have never attended PlayChic, I highly recommend it. It is just amazing to see how creative the designers get with combining the toys with their clothing. This year some of the designs were based on Twister, Pom Pom Wow, Mabel’s Labels and Orbeez. Pom Pom Wow had an amazing design that included wings that were completely decked out. Think of an angel from Victoria’s Secret, but with furry wings.
On Saturday, we attended the Blogger Breakfast which is always a great time to catch up with friends and hear some of the toy designers talk about what toys they will be highlighting on the show floor. This year was pretty cool because a special set of Trumps Cards were made to showcase media influencers that have attended ChiTag and your very own Fandads were on those cards. Yep, we have a trading card now and are part of a game. I don’t know how powerful our card is, but it’s pretty cool to say that we are on a trading card along with other great influencers like:
Our friend Katherine from Building Block Toys |
and the awesome The Rock Father! |
Our picture is pretty hilarious, since Gil and I rarely have a chance to get together, but it still looks pretty cool. Well, at least I think so.
During the day we got a chance to see the World’s Largest Pom Pom Wow Interactive Exhibit ever created.
My daughter spent a good amount of time playing with the TAGIE winner, Playmonster’s Roominate.
Finally, we had to make sure we took a picture with the 501st Garrison that was protecting all of the toys at the fair.
