The Legend of Vox Machina Episode 7-9 Review

I have been having a lot of fun with The Legend of Vox Machina. If you remember from our last post, I came into this show not knowing anything about the series, the characters, or what a Vox Machina was. After watching the first 6 episodes I have become hooked on this series and these 3 new episodes did not disappoint. I am going to recap the episodes and keep them spoiler-free.

Episode 7 – Scanbo

This episode was a lot of fun. After the cliffhanger from episode 6, we wanted to know what was up with Cassandra and if she and Percy would reunite. We do get that reunion and we also get to see Scanlon in action. While we know the series is about the entire team this episode showed us that when motivated, Scanlan is not one to mess with. The action is intense. The song that he sings is a lot of fun and watching the team react to his solo mission is great to see.

Scanlan’s distraction helps the team attempt their mission to save Cassandra. Percy finds Ander with Cassandra and once the reunion happens the episode ends. What a way for this episode to end!

As Vox Machina discovers more about a revenge pact Percy made years ago, Keyleth tries to magically connect with the Sun Tree. She senses its pain as well as a dark force deep below the city of Whitestone. Feeling underappreciated, Scanlan volunteers to infiltrate Duke Vedmire’s mansion as a distraction while Vox Machina attempts to rescue Percy’s sister Cassandra.

Episode 8 – A Silver Tongue

Episode 8 is an action-packed episode. We have fighting, fires, blood, and zombies! Yes, zombies! This episode starts off with the incident from the last episode and then just takes off from there. Percy and the crew take on Professor Anders and he uses his magic to turn the crew against Percy. This is a pretty awesome sequence and I think I watched it a few times to catch all of the intricacies of it.

After surviving his one-man mission, we see Scanlan patting himself on the back when he runs into a couple making out. Unbeknownst to him, it is not a couple and more action comes into play.

Vox Machina battles the vicious Professor Anders and his unique magical abilities, while Delilah Briarwood uses magic to summon a demonic army to rise against our heroes. Meanwhile, Pike searches for a way to reconnect with her deity, even if it means risking her life.

Episode 9 – The Tide of Bone

Episode 9 continues with the action from the zombie herd and during the battle, something happens to Scanlan n the safe house. Before we get into that action, the episode starts off with us seeing some of the history between Delilah and Silas. We find out what she did to help keep him alive and how this has kept them in power.

The action again in this episode is intense and it feels like the battles get better every time. We see the team help each other out in the battle against the zombies and the bond between Keyleth and Vax getting closer. Yes, even in the middle of a battle feelings of love get exposed. Thanks to an ally, the team gets the upper hand on the horde and makes their way to take down the Briarwoods. Once inside the underground chambers, the team runs into a friend/foe and this is where the episode ends.

The Briarwoods’ evil past connects with the present as Delilah reveals her pact with the Whispered One. In the bloody Whitestone streets, Vox Machina wages the fight of their lives against an undead horde. But just when all looks lost, the team gets help from an unexpected source.

While there is a lot more that goes on in each episode I want to keep it spoiler-free and leave a few surprises if you have not watched them. Now go! Go watch the episodes and come back and share with us what you liked about them.
