Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was released digitally on July 9th and now you can experience this thrilling movie in the comfort of your home. You can read our review of the movie here but in this post, we will talk about the special features available on the digital release. The movie will come out on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 27th.
If you know us by now we love seeing all the special features on the home release and while a lot is going on in this movie, the special features feel light. There is a 23-minute documentary on the making of the movie and 14 deleted scenes. The deleted scenes are cool because some give you more insight into the movie’s characters. Some of the scenes are not fully rendered so you see the actors in their motion capture suits doing their parts. Again, it is always fantastic to see how actors in suits are later transformed into different species of apes that look so lifelike.
The Documentary is also a great watch but I felt they could have given more about the making of the movie. 23 minutes is a good amount of time but I would have been happy with at least 45 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage. Read about the special features below and get your copy of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes today!

Set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, apes are living harmoniously as the dominant species — and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
