Favorite Horror Movies of 2024

I love Horror movies due to their unpredictability and the roller coaster ride they take us on. There were a lot of great horror movies out this year so I added one honorable mention along with this list.

In a Violent Nature – This fresh take on the horror genre puts you in the shoes of the killer. It is a novel concept and nothing like we have seen before. It’s interesting to see how the sequel will top this one.

Late Night with the DevilDavid Dasmatchan is fantastic in this slow burn that takes place on Halloween night. Through the use of behind-the-scenes and on-air footage, we see how this live exorcist goes horribly astray for the host.

Succubus – Dating in this day and age can be tricky but for Chris, Brendan Bradley, it can turn out deadly. Through the use of mobile phones, nanny cams, and computer cameras we see how an online dating app slowly wrecks this man’s life. Ron Pearlman is brilliant in this!

Nosferatu – This will probably be on a lot of lists this year but it deserves the accolades. Robert Eggers has made a movie that is not only scary but will stay with you after the credits roll.

Your Monster – This movie can be listed under multiple genres: Rom-Com, Horror, and Musical. Your Monster shows us that it is good to stand up for yourself and does it in a fun way.

Last Straw – A great twist on the “Home Invasion” genre by taking place inside a diner after hours. Jessica Belkin is fantastic in this and I was not prepared for the twist in this movie.

OddityOddity has one of the best jump scares that I have seen in a long time. This slow burn builds up to a chilling climax that will have you looking over your shoulders at night.

HereticHugh Grant drops facts in this movie that will start conversations after the movie is over. Whether you are a religious person or not, Heretic is an interesting take on what is the one religion and who is correct.

Sting – I loved this movie because it was a great throwback to the monster movies of the late 70s early 80s. The use of a practical spider is great because you feel the fear of the actors. This is a fun movie to watch! Alyla Browne is fantastic in this!

Handling the Undead – When the dead mysteriously come back we follow three families who must decide what to do with their loved ones. Handling the Dead is not a traditional zombie movie but one that questions the actions of the living.

Honorable MentionLonglegsLonglegs was the one horror movie that everyone was talking about and it does deserve the praise. With its blend of Silence of the Lambs & Seven, it took police procedural movies to another level. Plus, Nicholas Cage’s performance has to be seen.
