At the end of the last season of DareDevil, we saw Matt Murdock, (Charlie Cox), at Josie’s Bar with a ragtag group that were gearing up to take down Mayor Fisk, (Vincent D’Onofrio). The ending was a great setup for what was to come. But it left a bad taste for viewers. I want to say that if you have any doubts about Season 2, fear not, or have no fear, this season is exactly what the audience has been waiting for.
New Look, Same Violence
This time, Daredevil has a new look, a black costume with dark red markings. He has the iconic “DD” on his chest, which looks spectacular. Mayor Fisk’s Port project is in effect, and the ships docking are not as clean as they should be. Using this as one way to bring down Fisk, Matt tries to keep tabs on the evidence. Matt does the most DareDevil thing with a wristwatch that has to be seen to be believed.
We have been lucky to watch all 8 episodes of the new season and were blown away by everything that happened. The first two episodes are a bit slow, but they build the tension for what is to come. These episodes help the viewers get to know some of the characters and meet the new ones that are introduced. We see how some friendships have grown and how others have been sullied by the events of the first season. One thing that has increased is the level of violence in this season. There are some incredible fight scenes

Tiptoeing the Line Between Realities
One thing about this season that may hit close to home is the overabuse of power by Mayor Fisk. While some will call this “woke”, or state they don’t want their politics in their superhero shows, Kingpin is evil personified. Having all of this power as Mayor, Fisk is taking full advantage of it. There is no one who will check him or oppose him, so he uses intimidation to get what he wants. The use of his Task Force patrolling the streets also might stir some feelings, but all of this is integral to the climactic battle that each episode is leading to.
One moment had me doing a double-take to see if I was watching my screener or a news station. The city of New York plays a key role this time around. It is a microcosm of the country that is dealing with a corrupt government. The people make their voices heard throughout the season. Once they are finally able to do what they want, it is a moment that will hopefully bring hope to those living in a world like theirs.

The Story’s the Thing
This season of DareDevil: Born Again has some fantastic storylines for all its characters. We dive deeper into how the attack by Muse has affected Dr. Glenn (Margarita Levieva). A friendship has grown between Daniel (Michael Gandolfini) and B.B. (Genneya Walton), and with whom their trust lies. Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page is more in control of her agency and kicks ass when she has to.
One of the greatest stories this season deals with DareDevil’s biggest foe, Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). I do not want to give much away, but seeing him do his thing on the screen is just a thing of beauty. The most surprising character was Mr. Charles, played gleefully by Matthew Lillard. His presence on the screen not only exudes cockiness, but you know there is something about him that you can not trust. I will end it with a yes, Jessica Jones, (Krysten Ritter) is in this season, but I want her moments to be surprises for you.
Final Thoughts: DareDevil Born Again Season 2 is an incredible follow-up to season one. Whereas that season felt somewhat disjointed and left some fans frustrated, this season makes up for it. The brutal fights seem to hit harder than last time, and there are a few hallway fights that seem to be the staple of this series! Vincent D’Onofrio is giving a masterclass as Mayor Fisk, and when he turns it on, it is scary! Charlie Cox is DareDevil and has embodied this character so much that playing Matt Murdock is like breathing to him. There are some surprises and some shocking moments this time around that will have viewers talking for weeks. DareDevil Born Again: Season 2 is Marvel Knights personified and what the fans were wanting.
Violence: There is no way to go around this, but there is a lot of violence in DareDevil Born Again: Season 2. From stabbings to close-up bullet shots, this is not for the meek.
Kid-Friendly: This show is geared toward adults, and I would say kids ages 16 and up. Some of the themes hit too close to home regarding Mayor Fisk and his Task Squad. Conversations may have to be had afterwards, explaining that this is fiction and was written many months ago.
Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But, beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.
