Madame Web was one of those movies that I did not get to see in the theaters. The movie, sadly, was not well received but I still wanted to see this film about 4 women who are connected in some way. Thanks to our friends at Sony Pictures, we were sent an advance copy of the movie to review and it was an interesting movie.
I get it, we are all spoiled by what Marvel did for over 10 years in setting up their characters that we want every new superhero movie to be at that level. The truth is not all movies will make us feel the same way some of those movies did. While I did find some issues with Madame Web, I found it somewhat enjoyable.
Now available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray & DVD, you can see for yourself that this movie had some great moments and expanded the Spider-verse for fans of Spider-Man. The four leads, Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, & Celeste O’Connor, do a pretty good job with what they have and hopefully we will see these characters again in future movies.
Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.
